Retracted gums
Do you have your gums retracted and would you like to fix it?
Today it is possible in most cases
There are different causes that can provoke a receding gum. This may be an inflammatory problem (gingivitis or periodontitis), a problem of how your teeth fit, a problem of overload when biting, a discrepancy between the position and inclination of the teeth and the jaw bone, an aggressive tooth brushing etc.
The first step in treating a problem of receding gums is, logically, to eliminate the cause that originated it. If we don’t, the problem will appear again.
Once the cause is removed, we can treat retraction.
There are different ways to correct a gum retraction without the need for surgery.
Sometimes it is necessary to perform some surgical technique to correct the retraction. We offer you all the mucogingival surgical techniques currently available, such as gum grafts, (increasingly comfortable and predictable),
or the most advanced gum coating techniques that don’t need harvesting grafts such as:
- V.I.S.T.A. : It allows the covering of the retracted gums without taking grafts from other areas. Multiple retractions can be treated at once.
- Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST): Allows the retracted gums to be covered without taking grafts from other areas and without the need for sutures. Multiple retractions can be treated at once.
Sometimes, simply by changing the shape of the teeth or modifying the patient’s breathing, we can solve the problem in a very simple way.
